Learning Circles

Learning Circles

Learning Circles are groups of 7 to 12 people who meet together once a week to discuss different topics and share their learning and experiences of life. Learning Circle groups use a series of five books named ‘Amrao Pari’ (We Can). SIL Bangladesh developed this series for the groups. Each book covers 10 lessons, for a total of 50 lessons. A trained volunteer from the community facilitates the group in the mother tongue and the national language as needed.

SIL Bangladesh works to train and build capacity among community volunteers, and monitors groups on a regular basis. During visits SIL Bangladesh staff provide appropriate feedback to the volunteers on how to conduct good discussions and encourage group members to put their learning into practice. In 2016, SIL Bangaldesh is supporting male and female Learning Circle groups within the Mahle, Kol, Koda, Koch, Kurux and Hajong language groups.

Through these circles groups, members are growing in respect for and trust in one another and have begun to implement their learning in their daily lives.
